WP4
“Construction”
Once an optimum mix design has been chosen, the material will be produced by specialized partner factories in different types of conditioning with a view to different laying / construction methods, namely:
- Delivery of batches of bulk material.
- Application of PERS on paving blocks for urban streets.
- Pre-fabrication of sheets or mats.
- Laying in long stretches followed by uprolling on a drum, transporting and unrolling on site.
The conditioned material will be delivered to the five countries that will build test sections on real roads in order to study the behaviour of different variants of PERS under different traffic and climate conditions. The tested solutions will partly differ from country to country, namely:
- Denmark will apply continuous site construction on an urban road (1st construction phase).
- Poland will apply continuous site construction, possibly using the Rollpave system on a medium speed road (50-70 km/h) (1st construction phase).
- Sweden will apply square sheets (1st construction phase) and a continuous site construction (2nd construction phase).
- Belgium will apply continuous site construction (1st construction phase) and later construct a section using the Rollpave system on a rural road (speed 90 km/h) (2nd construction phase).
- Slovenia will apply paving blocks covered with PERS material in a city street (1st construction phase).
