“Monitoring”

A very important part of this project is to monitor and document how these new poroelastic pavement types behave under full scale road operating conditions with ordinary traffic driving on the pavements. Both acoustical parameters and parameters related to surface texture, structural durability, energy/CO2 and traffic safety shall be measured to analyse how these pavements function initially after they have been constructed and on a regular basis as the pavements are exposed to tear and wear by traffic, road maintenance operations, special maintenance during winter and exposure to climatic conditions such as sun, rain, snow/ice etc. The results of the monitoring will also be used as input to the cost benefit analyses performed in WP7.
